Welcome to Rolling Hills Country Club
In 1954, a few courageous golfing families decided to form a country club. Land was leased at the present site with an option to buy the property within ten years.
The original name of the club was Wohelo (from the first two letters of the words Work, Health & Love). Oddly, the first project was not the start of construction for a golf course, but rather a small swimming pool. A farmhouse came with the lease and it was used as the clubhouse. This was where the present picnic area is located. As one of the older members recalls, "On a party night, we were really packed in like sardines!" The farm's small cow-shed was rebuilt to become the initial part of the Pro Shop.
From these humble beginings, RHCC has flourished into a state-of-the-art country club while mainting the hard-working, family-oriented environment its members have always cherished.

The original name of the club was Wohelo (from the first two letters of the words Work, Health & Love). Oddly, the first project was not the start of construction for a golf course, but rather a small swimming pool. A farmhouse came with the lease and it was used as the clubhouse. The members painted it red. This was where the present picnic area is located. As one of the older members recalls, "On a party night, we were really packed in like sardines!" The farm's small cow-shed was rebuilt to become the initial part of the Pro Shop.
Thanks to a property settlement involving 17 acres taken by the Texas Turnpike Authority, the club was able to start construction on nine holes in early 1955. The terrain was rugged to say the least. It resembled a sea of rocks resting on a clay wilderness and it was the home for many snakes. Added to
these problems there was no water other than a small pond and one well. The option to buy the property was exercised during the 1960-61 season. By 1962 the course had 18 holes after several seasons of nine hole golf.
With dedication, determination, imagination and true grit, the early members of the club were able to see their dreams come true. How many labored as rock hounds, weed eradicators and snake exterminators in unknown!
Today Rolling Hills can boast of some of the best greens and fairways in the Metroplex. Membership has grown to nearly 500, including company, associate and honorary members. We salute those early pioneers and those who have followed in giving unselfishly of their time and energies.
The Club is governed by its articles of incorporation and by the provisions of the By-Laws. Members elect 9 members to a Board of Directors who serve a three-year term. Three new members are elected each year and three go off the Board each year. This Board supervises and controls the Club, its properties, affairs and policies. The Board meets once a month and any member is free to attend these meetings which are announced in the Club Calendar.
According to Fran Miller, the story goes . . .
"At some time during the construction of the Dallas/Fort Worth Turnpike Toll Road (now I-30) and before any cement was poured, two groups of golfers left Fort Worth and Dallas and played their way down the road bed. The two groups met at Rolling Hills and holed out on our 18th green. Byron Nelson was a member of the Fort Worth group."

The Webmaster just had to know whether this now famous story was truth or fiction.
So, at Las Colinas during the 2000
he delivered a hard copy email to Mr. Nelson.
Mr. Byron Nelson graciously provided the following reply:
And now, we all know "the rest of the story"!
